les oranges au havre

Title: les oranges au havre
Description: Once again, my wife served as the inspiration for this piece.  Sophie has always had very vivid memories of her grandfather.  The very last time they spent time together he peeled her oranges and kept replenishing even before the last wedge was eaten.  As in most Asian cultures it is uncommon to show affection or whisper words of endearment… however, with the oranges, her grandfather spoke a thousand words.  It was a simple gesture that meant the world.  As I wasn’t there to witness this account… I could only hope I did this beautiful story justice.

Cool piece…I Like it! This one would especially be cool as a poster hung on a wall somewhere.

David, I did not realize how talent you are. I love this one soo much. It is exactly the way how I see my father who was and with little Sophie going across street to ED supermarket or to the Saturday farmer market in front of my father’s apartment. That exactly how Sophie would dress up when she was little girl, I still have the picture of her lying on the grass, both hands on her cheeks and a flower on her hair in front of the famous cathedrale of Rouen when the family made a trip there long long time ago. Perfect reflection of time past. I would not mind having a this poster hung in my apartment. Sophie, you should print one copy in 8.5 x 11 and give it to Ba noi, she would cry looking at it.

This piece has brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me of my father. It’s beautiful but yet simple just as life in a little town of France call Le Havre. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece in memory of my father.
