reality vs. expectation chapter 1

Title: Reality vs. Expectation Chapter 1

Description: This piece is the first of many in my new series, ‘Expectation vs. Reality‘, inspired by a scene from 500 Days of Summer married with visions of our children’s future… what we hope versus what will be.  Being proud parents of two, my wife and I can only wish for a safe, clean, and peaceful world for our children and their children to live in. The reality, however, is far fetched as mankind continues to destroy the gift we’ve been given.  This along with following pieces in this series gives a glimpse of what my son and daughter should yet will see in their lifetime.

A bumper sticker we recently came about illustrates a terrifying thought… “Daddy, what are trees?”

This series is now my all-time favorite, no bias ;) I think you depict reality vs. expectation beautifully! It’s a scary thought, the world our children will grow to see… hopefully we can shield them from some of the ugly. xoxo.

I love it. Such a great commentary.

We as a society have let our own self importance cloud our vision for tomorrow. We take what we want today and never give a thought as to those white puffy clouds and blue skies that we use to see by day or the beauty of the thousands of stars by night. Your right to be worried, so how do we wake-up the complacent? What happened to the fire-flies we use to chase at night?

Dave, as a shrink, I am forever hopeful that what we do in our home with our kids far outweigh the negative situations of the world outside. Just keep talking to them about the harsh realities of life but let them also be overwhelmed with our love, support and wisdom. Trust me, it will carry them through the “not so good times” and feel less hopeless about their future lives.

This makes me sad because its so true. So much has changed even since we were all kids. This inspires me to make a change and to be more mindful of the enviro
